If you're feeling brave, you can try sneaking around the fort to loot more stuff.Īlso, one thing which is a nice change from EA is the fact that you can see who is a trader by mousing over them. This should hopefully give you enough money to get gear and skill for you and your companions. Kick the ladder down and loot the room up there. ![]() Once you've done that, you can use the item you get from the crocodiles to get up to the ledge in the fort, on the right side of the main gate. Next, I fight the turtles on the northern beach (which can be quite easy to miss!) before going to fight the crocodiles. I don't want to spoil too much, but what I tend to do now when first arriving at the fort is trying to resolve the quests which don't need combat - like the one with the elf in the cage and the magister on the beach. Because of this, even a difference of a level or two feels enormous. Compared to the first game, this one definitely has a steeper learning curve, in part because you have very little gear and not much opportunity to get new skills straight away. To be honest, I get where you're coming from, as I had trouble with Fort Joy when I played in EA. From the start you're expected to pay attention, ESPECIALLY to these 'pointless' dialogues, they give you information about the world around you and provide you the details necessary to hunt down that sweet, sweet EXP reward.īut, the reality of it, is that this is more that you've mis-purchased the game and are incapable of recognizing the good qualities in what you spent your money on, don't berate a good game because of your buyer's remorse though, you should have researched the game more. the STORY and /roleplaying/ is important! if your only intention is to have some kind of action RPG, then this is definitely not the game for you.Ĭharacters evolve slowly and deliberately, there is rarely any 'i-win- buttons or easy do overs, Expect that 20 levels later, you'll likely be using the same abilities (just more of them) and expected gear, but the strategy and synergy is what evolves. My first game I ever played on the PC was Baldur's gate, the very first one, and this reminds me of it in such an endearing way, but I can honestly say i can see how players in modern gaming have a hard time grasping the core 'rules' of games of this nature. I'm sitting here thinking to myself "I think I might go do some ratting instead" on Eve Online - that, in itself, speaks volumes. I've been playing the last 3 hours, simply because I spent £30 on it yesterday not because I'm enjoying myself and that is no way to play a game. Maybe I'm missing something as I enjoyed the first one, but this feels alot like Dungeon Defenders 2 - a poor sequel. The game just isn't fun and I'm not enjoying my time playing it. ![]() ![]() The game was on thin ice when I went to bed last night, after a few more hours play this morning it has finally given way and I've fallen through into the icy waters below. Getting a bit cheesed off with the poor framerate (my pc isn't that bad - 32gb ram 780ti) - not a game breaker tho. Nothing new added to the mix, same old boring, frighteningly underpowered spells, skills & tallents. Sick of reading pointless dialogue (over and over and over)ġ3 hours in and I'm still using the same spells / skills / weapons I started wtih (beast has a new crappy hammer tho). Oh for some random encounters!! - never thought I'd hear myself saying that! Sick of looking for some appropriate mobs to kill to gain a level or two. Sick of spinning the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera around - very disorientating. Sick of wandering around looking for something to progress the game. It's getting to the point where it just isn't worth the bother walking over and clicking to loot them. ![]() Opened a hell of a lot of crates / vases though. Sick of finding no loot - 13 hours in and I've found 2 buckets, a hammer and a ring, oh and a chest piece. Sick to death of wading through mountains of dialogue only to walk into a fight - die pretty much instantly and have to wade through it all again. Wandered back outside and ended up in a fight with Griff, was destroyed within a couple of turns. I've wandered up and down the beach a dozen or so times, killed everything I can find (Fort Joy)įound the arena - I'm just far too out numbered and out gunned to progress here.įound some dude in the dungeon - again far too under powered to even make a dent in them. The quest system might as well not be there as I have no idea what is going on with that beyond something updating from time to time, reading it yields zero help. I'm 13 hours in, main character is lvl3 and the rest of my party are lvl2 and playing on classic mode.
